January 31, 1971, 32 year Carol Turner drove to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, in Arizona, for a short vacation while she had some time off from teaching. Carol would spend the next couple of days hiking in the monument and going on nature walks with the rangers.
EP. #32: Erika Lloyd - Joshua Tree National Park
On June 14th 2020, Erika Llyod set off on a pandemic road trip to Joshua Tree National Park, where she planned to camp. After she failed to check in with family for several days, she was declared missing on June 17th. Adding to the mystery, her vandalized car was found a day earlier by law enforcement on a highway near the park. Over the next several months, friends, family, and law enforcement continued searching for Erika with no luck.

The Pacific Crest Trail, a trail that spans over 2,600 miles along the west coast of the United States, attracts hikers from all over the world. Taking almost 5 months to complete, finishing the PCT is a feat very few have achieved. On July 25th, 1981, 14 year old Stacy Arras along with 8 others went horseback riding in Yosemite National Park. After a long day of riding the group stopped at the Sunrise High Sierra Camp for the night. Stacy told her father she was going on a short hike to take pictures.
EP. #25: Jonathan Aujay - Devil’s Punchbowl Natural Area - California
On June 11, 1998, 38-year-old Jonathan Aujay traveled into the Devil’s Punchbowl Natural Area, northeast of downtown Los Angeles in the Antelope Valley, to go for a trial run.
EP. #23: Terrence Woods - Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest Idaho
October 5th, 2018, Terrence Woods, a freelance filmmaker, was working with a production company, filming a reality show at Penman mine in Western Idaho. While the crew was wrapping up, Terrence jumped off a cliff and sprinted into the thick mountain forest stunning the entire crew.
EP. #22: Keith Parkins - Ritter Oregon
On April 10th, 1952, 2 year old Keith Parkins was playing with his older brothers on a cattle ranch in Ritter, Oregon. While playing near a barn on the property, his older brothers headed back for lunch, leaving Keith at the barn.
EP. #21: Eilean Mor Lighthouse Keepers - Scotland
December 26th, 1900, on a remote island off of the western shore of Scotland, a small ship was making its way towards the island’s lighthouse with Joseph Moore. Moore, a replacement lighthouse keeper, was rowing ashore to take his post. When he reached the lighthouse, the previous crew stationed there was gone.
EP. #20: Connie Johnson - Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest Idaho
October 2018 - Connie Johnson, a former U.S. Forest Service wilderness ranger in Idaho, had the experience and training to navigate the backcountry solo and even survive if needed. After retiring from the Forest Service, Connie worked as a camp cook for Richie Outfitters in the area around Fog Mountain.
EP. #19: Jaryd Atadero - Poudre Canyon Colorado
October 2nd, 1999, 3-year-old Jaryd Atadero, his 6-year-old sister Jocelyn, and 11 other adults were hiking The Big South Trail near Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. While hiking, Jaryd ran ahead, no more than 100 feet and stopped to talk with some fisherman.
EP. #13: Samuel Boehlke - Crater Lake National Park
October 14th, 2006, 8 year old Samuel Boehlke and his father Kenneth were staying at the Diamond Lake Resort 9 miles from Crater Lake National Park. Sammy and his father decided to take a drive into Crater Lake and stop at the Cleetwood Cove Overlook to take in the beauty of the park.
EP. #12: Tom Messick - Lake George Wilderness Area NY
On November 16th, 2015 seven men set out to hunt Lily Pond Road at the Lake George Wilderness Area in Upstate New York . The men were all experienced hunters, had communication devices, were not far from their camp, and were on a commonly used road. After hunting for a couple of hours the group decided to return to their cars.
EP. #10: Alfred Beilhartz - Rocky Mountain National Park
July 2nd, 1938, 4-year-old Alfred Beilhartz is camping with family and friends in Rocky Mountain National Park. Alfred and his father went to the nearby Fall River to bathe and prepare for the start of their day. When Alfred ran off to spend time with other campers in their party, he was never seen again.
EP. #9: Carl Landers - Shasta-Trinity National Forest
May 25th, 1999 - Carl Landers was on his second summit attempt of Mt Shasta in the California wilderness. An avid outdoorsman and runner, Carl was no stranger to the perils and the difficulties of a technical mountain climb. While ascending Mt Shasta with his two close friends, Carl decided to head up the trail first while his friends pack up camp.
EP. #7: Laura Bradbury - Joshua Tree National Park
The date is October 18, 1984, three-and-a-half-year-old Laura Bradbury was on a camping trip with her family at the Indian Cove Campground in the Joshua Tree National Park. The Bradbury family were regular visitors to the park.
EP. #5: Arvin Nelson - Big Sur State Park
In episode 5, we discuss the disappearance of Arvin Nelson, who went missing in Big Sur State Park/ Ventana Wilderness area along California's coast on August 6th, 2014. When Nelson failed to arrive at the Big Sur Station on August 14th, a massive search and rescue operation was started on August 16th.
EP. #4: Michael Allen Ficery - Yosemite National Park
In episode 4, we discuss the disappearance of Michael Allen Ficery, who went missing in Yosemite National Park on June 15th, 2005 while backcountry hiking a loop near the the Pacific Crest Trail. A massive SAR operation was conducted after Michael was reported missing which only turned up his backpack.
EP. #3: Bobby Bizup - Rocky Mountain National Park
In episode 3, we discuss the disappearance of Bobby Bizup, who went missing on August 15, 1958 while attending summer camp at St. Malo Retreat which sits on the Southeastern edge of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Almost a year after his disappearance, a broken hearing aid, some ripped clothing, and bone fragments were found nearly 2000 feet up Mount Meeker, in an area already searched by authorities.
