After she failed to check in with family for several days, she was declared missing on June 17th. Adding to the mystery, her vandalized car was found a day earlier by law enforcement on a highway near the park. Over the next several months, friends, family, and law enforcement continued searching for Erika with no luck.

The men were all experienced hunters, had communication devices, were not far from their camp, and were on a commonly used road. In episode 3, we discuss the disappearance of Bobby Bizup, who went missing on August 15, 1958 while attending summer camp at St. Malo Retreat which sits on the Southeastern edge of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Almost a year after his disappearance, a broken hearing aid, some ripped clothing, and bone fragments were found nearly 2000 feet up Mount Meeker, in an area already searched by authorities.
