June 8th 2021- A Jackson Wyoming resident, bartender, and local snowboard instructor set out for a solo hike in Grand Teton National Park with limited gear on a moderate 8-mile trail. June 17th, 2016 - Floyd, his best friend and his daughter set out on a 9 day backcountry hike on the Northern edge of the Grand Canyon. Late that day, the group briefly split up for no more than 30 minutes, to navigate around a small hill, before reaching the trailhead to start their hike. August 1, 2018, 28 year old Samantha Sayers set off on a solo hike of Vesper Peak in the remote North Cascades wilderness of Washington State. As an experienced hiker who’s traversed this route multiple times, it should have been a routine day hike. However, Sam was never heard from or seen again. Sam's disappearance would kick off one of the largest search and rescue operations in state history that ultimately failed to uncover any clues about what happened. In July 2013, experienced hiker and mountain climber Matthew Greene, was climbing with some friends in the Ansel Adams Wilderness Area of California when he experienced some car trouble requiring a few days of work. While Matt camped in Mammoth Lakes waiting on his car, his friends headed back home.

The Stanislaus National Forest is located in Tuolumne County California, near the northwestern part of Yosemite National Park. The forest is home to hundreds of miles of streams, rivers, and over a thousand miles of trails. Yet, just beyond the forests beauty lies a dark and mysterious past.

On April 11, 2019, 68 year old Kat Hammontre went on a short day hike with family, friends, and her German Shepherd Tootsie in Diablo Canyon, located in San Pedro Martir National Park. After less than a mile in, Kat sits down due to issues with her foot, while the rest of the group continued on.

In the summer of 1988, Keith Reinhard, a Chicago sports reporter and an aspiring novelist moved to Silver Plume Colorado, a small mountain town in the Colorado Rockies. He opened a small antique store and hoped the slower pace of life would help with his novel. Soon after moving in, Keith learned of the strange disappearance of Tom Young, who had previously leased Keith's shop and went missing almost exactly a year earlier.

Between April 1989 and April 1992, five murders occurred in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. The murders were seemingly random and not connected by any motive except one. All of the victims were enjoying an outdoor activity. The victims were joggers, campers, outdoorsmen.

July 19th, 1991, 13 year old Jared Negrete was on an overnight backpacking trip with the Boy Scouts in the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California. On a hike to the summit of Mt. San Gorgonio, Jared fell behind the group and was asked to stay behind and wait. The group planned to get Jared on the way down but Jared was gone.

January 31, 1971, 32 year Carol Turner drove to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, in Arizona, for a short vacation while she had some time off from teaching. Carol would spend the next couple of days hiking in the monument and going on nature walks with the rangers.
