On November 7th, 2020, Michael Knapinski was on a snowy hike with a friend near the Muir Snowfield on Mt Rainier. During the hike, Michael and his friend became separated as the weather deteriorated, eventually leading to whiteout conditions. When Michael didn't show up at the their meeting spot, his friend alerted the authorities he was missing. Amazingly, Michael was found the next day, near death, in the Nisqually River Drainage.
