Between April 1989 and April 1992, five murders occurred in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. The murders were seemingly random and not connected by any motive except one. All of the victims were enjoying an outdoor activity. The victims were joggers, campers, outdoorsmen.

Sept 13th, 1990 - Biff and Cindi Bowen were at the halfway point of their 2,144 mile hike down the Appalachian Trail, when the couple stopped for supplies in Duncannon, Pennsylvania, before their trek up nearby Cove Mountain. The two planned to spend the night in a three-sided log shelter along the trail.
